バイクに乗る時の一つのチェックがサイズを含めたバイク選びとなる。

バイクに乗るためには、

①バイク選び　②フィッティング　③トレーニング

の3点が必要となる。

その中でも第一歩となる「バイク選び」は、目的や用途と、そのレベルから素材、ジオメトリー、予算、在庫などを考慮し選ぶことになる。（ここは専門家に任せるべきだろう）

そして、ある程度モデルが決まったところで、サイズが必要となってくる。下記のサービスは、現在、ロードバイクのみとなるが、ロードバイクの場合、概ね、身長からの判断で決まると行っても良いだろう。もちろん、下記Newsの中でも「参考値」であるとし「個人差」の確認が必要なことを述べている。

これは、身長はクリアしたが、脚の長さなどからサイズを変える場合が稀にあるが、脚が短い場合、胴が長いと言うことであり、サイズを落とせば、トップ長が短くなり、ハンドルが近くなり、弊害が出てしまう。以前にも良く聞いた話だが、「ロードをトライアスロンで使うので54cmを51cmにした。」なども「シートアングル」の違いが加味されず、同様に乗りずらいサイズとなってしまう。身長からバイクのサイズを決めることは、90%以上の確率ではないだろうか。現実問題として、予算、在庫などを踏まえると、まず、サイズの「あたり」はつけておきたい。

あらためて。バイクに乗る（買う）と言うことは、上記3点全てが必要であり、慎重なバイク選びをして、その時点でのフィッティング（仮説）をし、データを活用したトレーニングによって、イメージした走りに近づいて行くことになる。特にフィッティングは軽視されがちだが、何年乗っても身体に馴染んでくれないバイクとの関係性は、トレーニング量による経験値と競技レベルにより、常にチェックが必要となる。シーズンオフにバイクのメンテナンスをするように、フィッティングもメンテナンスをしてほしい。

SWANSEA / LONDON / TAMPA (November 4, 2021) – IRONMAN announced today that it will add a brand-new event to its 2022 global race calendar with the IRONMAN^® 70.3^® Swansea triathlon in Wales. The inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea triathlon will take place on Sunday, August 7, 2022 with general registration opening on November 16, 2021 at 2pm GMT.
 
Athletes and spectators can expect a fantastic route in a race destination offering scenic beauty with the historic dockside, Gower Peninsula and the rolling green hills, pastures and rich agriculture of Rural Swansea. Athletes and their family and friends can also enjoy the views along the sweeping waterfront of Swansea Bay, Mumbles, and the beautiful Gower Peninsula.

The success of IRONMAN Wales is significant as the event has been a huge catalyst for the growth of triathlon in the region. The event led to a significant growth in fitness and tourism in Pembrokeshire, including a major increase in triathlon clubs. The Welsh government noted this impact and worked with Swansea Council and The IRONMAN Group to bring the IRONMAN 70.3 event to Swansea.
 
Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport, Dawn Bowden, said, “I’m delighted that the Welsh Government has been able to support IRONMAN 70.3 and that Swansea has been announced as one of the new events in Europe. Wales has a long relationship with IRONMAN, with the success of IRONMAN Wales being a catalyst for the growth of the sport in the area. The IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea event on Sunday, August 7, is part of a series of events that will celebrate para sport in the UK. A World Triathlon Para Series event will be held in Swansea the day before on Saturday, August 6, utilising some of the same courses that IRONMAN athletes will experience. A wider para sports festival will be held in Swansea throughout the week of the August 1, with several para sports events taking place at various locations around the city. Further details on the World Triathlon Para Series event is available from the British Triathlon Federation and on the Para Sport Festival from Disability Sport Wales.

Athletes participating in IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea will take on a 1.2-mile (1.9km) swim at the Prince of Wales Dock before cycling a one-loop 56-mile (90km) bike course. Athletes will cycle through the Mumbles along roads that hug the Gower’s coastal clifftops before cycling out cycling out through Rural Swansea and heading back along Swansea Bay into the city. From here, they will return to Swansea as they prepare for transition in the Maritime Quarter beside the Rive Tawe. Lastly, athletes will take on a 13.1-mile (21.1km) two loop run course which takes them from the city centre , out past the new eye-catching gold-coloured Swansea Arena, towards Mumbles before heading back towards the finish line at the Marina.

Robert Francis-Davies, the council’s cabinet member for investment, regeneration, and tourism, added: “IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea adds to the city’s growing portfolio of high-quality events, including the annual Wales Airshow, Singleton Park concerts, and the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k. It’ll draw thousands of spectators, many Welsh athletes among those coming from many other places, and it will bring a welcome uplift for our fantastic tourism and hospitality sectors. The IRONMAN 70.3 event will help make that weekend a very special one for Swansea sport, with Britain’s first-ever standalone World Triathlon Para Series event taking place here on Saturday, August 6.”

IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea will be an age-group race and will offer qualifying slots to the 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship taking place in Lahti, Finland on August 26 – 27, 2023.

ERKNER / LONDON / TAMPA (October 21, 2021) – IRONMAN announced today that it will add to its 2022 global race calendar with the Erkner Triathlon in Germany joining the IRONMAN^® 70.3^® series. The IRONMAN 70.3 Erkner triathlon will continue to build upon the legacy of the Erkner Triathlon on Sunday, September 11, 2022 with general registration opening on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Located on the southeastern edge of Germany’s capital Berlin, the charming small town with 12,000 inhabitants will also host a 5150™ Triathlon Series Event as well as a 4:18:4 Short Course Triathlon on Saturday, September 10, 2022, creating a festival race weekend.

Athletes and spectators can expect a fantastic race course in Erkner, a popular destination for many metropolitan to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city. Athletes joining IRONMAN 70.3 Erkner will start their race at the Dämeritzsee, a lake located in the southeast of Berlin. One half of the Dämeritzsee lies in Berlin city territory and the other half in the state of Brandenburg. Athletes then transition onto the newly designed one lap 90 km (56 miles) bike course that leads along the Spree River as athletes experience pristine nature. At the Scharmützelsee, athletes will take the road leading back to the transition zone. With straight roads, this bike course offers a flat and fast course. The final 21,1 km run (3-loops) will guide athletes through the city of Erkner, passing the beautiful marketplace of Erkner and the famous Gerhart-Hauptmann-Museum, a memorial to the poet and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature Gerhart Hauptmann.

IRONMAN 70.3 Erkner will offer qualifying slots to the 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship taking place in Lahti, Finland on August 26 – 27, 2023.
