Inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 San Juan triathlon scheduled for March 27, 2022

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina / TAMPA, Fla. – (November 23, 2021) – IRONMAN today announced that San Juan, Argentina will serve as the newest host venue for an IRONMAN® 70.3® triathlon. The inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 San Juan triathlon is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 27, 2022 with general registration available at www.ironman.com/im703-san-juan. “San Juan is a place athletes will love to race in and a community they may not want to leave!”, said Mariano Patrone, Events Sports´s Director. “We know that IRONMAN 70.3 athletes will be excited to compete here while enjoying our community.” Kindness, tranquility, and culture are the characteristics that visitors will find when in the city of San Juan, Argentina. During their visit, athletes will be able to enjoy the unique traditions that contrast with the modernity of its architecture. The capital of the province of San Juan, the city is located 1,300 kilometers (186 miles) from Buenos Aires, offering the ideal location for sports and tourist alike. The 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 San Juan triathlon, taking place on Sunday, March 27, will begin with a rolling start format. The 1.2-mile swim will take place in the clear river waters in San Juan. Once out of the water, athletes will take on the 56-mile bike course around the rural towns with rolling hills of the 60 Rute and Interlagos Rute. After transitioning to the run at Las Heras City, athletes will embark on a 13.1-mile run along soft surface trails alongside the town, Spain Square, and Bicentennial Square. The IRONMAN 70.3 San Juan event will offer qualifying slots to the 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship taking place in St. George, Utah on October 23 – 24, 2022.   For more information on the 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 San Juan triathlon, visit www.ironman.com/im703-san-juan and follow with the social media hashtag #IM703SJ.
